Located on a small expansion shelf about midway between the Third and Fourth Circles, Musical Hell is presided over by Diva, a minor demon charged with passing judgement on the worst musicals ever committed to film. (She still hasn't figured out if this is their punishment or hers.) Take a seat on the bench and have your earplugs ready, because court is now in session.

Know the Score: Come from Away (Musicals 101)

Hey everybody, wouldn't you like to see a toe-tapping, feel-good musical about the aftermath of 9/11?  No, this isn't some kind of Springtime for Hitler deal.  It's Come From Away, and it's really much, much better than it sounds.

And while on the subject of lending a helping hand, I'm dedicating this month's Patreon proceeds to Hurricane Irma relief in St. Martin and Barbuda.  If you'd like to contribute a dollar or two to that cause (and future videos), click here.  If you'd just like to cut out the middleman and donate directly to a worthy NPO, click here.

  2. So glad I found this -- loved the musical when I saw it on Broadway and so that you did a "Know the Score" on this musical that brought together history and heart. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend the new historical musical "Hello Girls" which just opened at 59 E 59th Street. It has many of the same elements I loved in "Come From Away" --great music & lyrics, clever acting, singing, and staging (the actors also play musical instruments) and an intriguing look at a little-known slice of history.
